Typically my visits to Rainier are only a day or two, preferring to return to the city so I don't miss any new episodes of Game of Thrones or Homeland. This time I decided that with the long, solid-looking weather window and a new TiVo holding down the homefront I could justify a trip long enough to get blisters.
Day one climbed Gib Ledges, caught some rayz on a mild Columbia Crest, descended DC - Cadaver Gap - Muir to car.
Day two climbed and descended Turtle for ~4,000' of cornographic material. Camped on Wapowty Cleaver.
Day three climbed lower left side of Kautz HW connecting with Kautz Cleaver just below 12k'. Touched Point Success at 1015am and surfed E Success Couloir in primo conditions. Cheers to the late great Chad Kellogg for snowboarding this line in '98. By virtue of some 80mph driving through Eatonville I beat traffic home.
I don't what else to do on the south side, I guess its about time to man up and get over to the real shit.

Sounds fun, Drew.
Yeah, go make hike and ski the real shit. In the Cascades, it's not a real ski unless you gotta hike for a day!

Sounds like a fun time up on the big hill...but yeah, starting your approach from above 5k nullifies any hardman status
btw, did they ever rebuild that road on the north side that washed out several years ago...shit I can't even remember what the road was called, but it took you right up in there, and nice and low too

I think Carbon River Road is now a loss like Westside Road.

Yay for the big ice cream! I also like these other pics you posted on TAY
Got any more?
Is stuff more opened up this year? Amar, Dave and I did the Thumb last year in super good/easy conditions, nothing really open or broken up at all last April. I've only ever gotten perfect, easy ski conditions up there (n=2)
Judging by exhibit A, if you have caught the ski sickness, then you will go rabid at this point and ski everything out (until the Park starts to catch on? lol dude!)
If it clears your system soon then I might be down for a girlfriend tour...kinda where I'm at right now
