Ruapehu flash birn

Post by huevón »

Once honoured by those not bothering to sufferfest it to the top for communion without sunscreen or shades, Momma Ruapehu basks majestically in the centre of Aotearoa, collecting moistures, with a profane and super convenient blacktop to her flanks.

+ Primo hike-a-skis for Xmas

+ Magic sticks USD$250 in 2004 dollars, featuring subtropicorn so white it'll burn the shit through sunscreen

= A few weightless minutes on the wings, finishing touches on the UV treatments

Soundtrack: Radio Tainui 95.4 FM

I am definitely getting the St Helens vibe. Spring skiing looks nice! Supposed to get to something like -15 C in town here tonight.

Lost the drive 2/3 of the way up the mountain before the trees opened on my third consecutive midnight session last night, snowy and windy in the dark.

You plan to remain upside down for the rest of your life or what? #bestPlanet #upsideDownside

Those slopes sure were nice and went fast! Funny not to have seen anyone.

In WA State there'd have been a steady pilgrimage of at least few hundred corn zombies. My PNW-based travel partner had not even brought or hired skis on account of "conventional wisdom" against my reckoning ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They also wanted to be "done by three" or I'd have skied more laps til dark or whiteout. Was that good

Still trying to wrap my head and explorations around pretirement and perpetual seasonal migrations

During the winter break we have been without child care and Alisson has mostly had to work. So I do some night skiing just because that's when it's possible to go. Some nights skiing a run they groomed after close that got another 4" of powder on top is amazing. Other nights it's just windy and cold and not very inspiring.
