Spent a week at the base of Blackcomb for a fun vacation with Alisson's family. Skied five days in a row at Blackcomb; weather felt like December. Such consistently wet snow had been eradicated from my memory! Alex came for a ski day on Wednesday when the forecast enticed us with the possibility of afternoon sunshine. (No such luck!) At least Husume was fun at the end of the day.
Once again, Saturday's forecast hinted at possible afternoon sunshine. Ziff and I met Alex, Maddy, Cameron and Lyndsey (sp?) at the Cerise Creek TH. After a couple hours of skinning up the ridge with some very heavy snow we were handsomely rewarded with abundant hippy pow.
The avanlanche forecast was a bit sketchy to be trying something like these avy chutes.
Ziff enjoys some untouched snow.
It was worth making laps. Maddy on the skin track.
Ziff again with Chief Pascal in the background.
Alex in an ideal telemark scenario.
Maddy enjoys the powder too.
The weather was stunning by the end of the day. Oh, yes, this is what I miss.
Time to get overly confident in the snow stability.
Meanwhile, Kaj's uncle Hawkan and aunt Christina were kind enough to take him on the magic carpet for the first time.
He doesn't look 100% psyched yet.
I'll get him up to Ski Santa Fe on a warm afternoon before the snow at the bottom of the hill is gone.
Thanks for a wonderful vacation, Peter and Susan and thanks for a very fun day on the Duffey, Ziff et al. Now time to get hyped for the drive to Seatac.

Nice to skin and ski with you Sky, it had been too long.
glad the sun poked its head out so that you could see all those snow covered peaks. sure was a nice day up there.
