Summer Freeride Camp dans le massif

After a relatively long absence from the boards, and a long and poisonous trip to the US, I'm here to give some documentation of the happenings in le massif.

Hardcore rehabilitation training started last week with alternate days climbing and skiing. With a lap quotidien up the Tacul in refreshed conditions, one can't help but to be content. More formidable objectives are on the near horizon. Here's a few pics from summer freeride camp.

Looking down the arête.

It's still mega-fatt with big lines still in everywhere and more importantly, cold temps. I've waited a long time for this.

Image
Tom and I on top of the Tacul. I would guess temps at 4300 to have been around ~-12C.

Tom nearing the summit of the Tacul (skis are left below a small mixed step).

Skiing down the summit ridge.

Beautiful conditions right off the ridge.

Nice afternoon shred. Now to some rock...

Remember when I kept saying, "Man, I think I wanna go back to the Western Alps late June this year. I think its THE year to be there." And you were all, "No, man. Its so fucked, such a bad idea. Definitely not, de-fi-nite-ly not. Wrong. Incorrect. Do not even consider it. Fool."

Haha, beautiful, yes thanks for warning about how poor conditions can be as of last year, otherwise I might certainly have caught some deadly ski obsession and scraped off all the pow.
