Scuzzy & Fraser - scrambled

Post by Alex »

So to further comment on Sky's description on what his forum has become, I'll post some not so cutting edge stuff, but something that was moderately enjoyable none the less.

Maddy, Rich, & I did a bit of a bike thwack to get into this area

Then we did a short but steep bush thwack up to the Fraser - Scuzzy col, and traversed over to a pretty alpine lake to set up camp.
The col, with Cam's peak.

After a short dip in the iceberg filled lake, we decided to go up Fraser Peak's NE ridge as it seemed like it had the least BS to get to from our campsite. So a bit of background, this area has immaculate granite. There are some nice sounding climbing routes like Ninja Tiger Arete & Endurance Slab to name a couple. The climbing up the ridge was easy, but fun. You could essentially pick your difficulty, from class 2 to short 10b offwidth cracks (a guess).
Rich, doing some running shoe jamming:

On Sunday we went up the West ridge of Scuzzy. It's a really broad ridge with granite steps of varying height all the way to the top, many of those steps being slab.

And some steeper sections with really good holds.

On the way back down we went for a dip in a little tarn that was completely surrounded by a solid piece of granite. The water was relatively warm and it was a beautiful place to go for a swim.

No shot of skinny dipping in the tarn? That seems like your style.

looks like a cool place to hang out and tag a couple peaks! Nice climbing rock, some day will have to check out some of the lines in the area...

Alex, is your style to skinny dip, or to photograph people skinny dipping? I'm into both.

Sky,
Who me? I would never do such a thing! I would also never ask someone to take a naked picture of me on Oboe... or on an un-named peak near the Wendy Thompson Hut...
I also have a quote to share with you, "I made the traverse quickly, ahead of the others. I took the luxury of removing all my clothes and boots to sit in the sun absolutely naked. There's nothing better than getting naked in high alpine terrain; I swear it's good for the soul." (Sky Sjue, April 2004)

Ryan,
I only partook in one of said activities this trip. Both can be quite refreshing though.

Fun! The trip I mean. Although skinny dipping is fun too.
