We haven't had a lot of motivation lately because of a low cloud deck and filthy hot tempertures (14-18 in Chamonix) and freezing levels around 3000 meters. Is this normal? Well whatever, it finally did precip and refreshed conditions all the way down to about 2500 meters (la salle de manger sur le mer de glace was the turning point). When we arrived down there, (it had been about two weeks for me) I didn't recognize the place. It's now a giant teetering choss garden of doom.
Not much to say; the original goal was to ski the Capucin couloir, but we didn't bring two 60 meter ropes and some deadmen to bury in the snow for the unseasonably long rap in. Looked good though after that.
With lots of daylight now, a 1pm sufficed, but only after a treacherous death luge at the end and a 7:40 planard arrival.
Mt Mallet.

Skinning up the glacier. Glop was an issue.

Getting higher.

The top isn't very sustained steep but just perfect assuming the snow is good.

Skiing down offered surprisingly good creamy pow all the way to the salle de manger. C'etait top.
