Los Alamos, White Rock, The Playground

The Playground does not feature any of the classic clip-ups to be found elsewhere on the local basalt, but the cracks there are stellar. Its southern exposure seemed like it would be nice on a cool day following plenty of wind and snow showers through the first half of the weekend.
Ryan recovered enough from his persistent plague to join us for some fun in the sun. Ryan leads Beginner's Hand Jam.

Next Naomi jumped on Cactus Climb.

There is a thin crux near the top.

Naomi with the jugs of triumph in her grasp.

The Blowhole is a classic.

Don't try to jam through the crux. You will lose.
Burnt Crack is another good one.

Naomi on the hunt for the red point.
She got it.

I like Burnt Crack too.

Stem to win.

Stemming won't save you on Unrelenting Nines.

It was nice to share a northern New Mexico day with you, Ryan. I hope you enjoyed the climbs.
