So I notice there may be a weather window this weekend and heard that the N/C is in good shape. I might be over Friday and attempt to ski it on Saturday OR come over Saturday and attempt Sunday. I was wondering what's the deal with Hood Meadows? I was reading on TAY there's a gate on the road? Can I sleep up in the parking lot? Any help is appreciated!

Hi Guy,
Can't help you with that and you'd probably get way better help on TAY or cc.com. But you can sleep in your ride at Timberline if you're discrete and traversing isn't that difficult. You could traverse, schralp full fall line, then do an end-of-day traverse.
Good luck and hope you have fun!

Thanks Sky. I thought about the traverse from Timberline, but I don't know shit about Hood. The skin from Hood Meadows looked pretty straight forward. I was hoping that Dan H. might chime in since he's skied it late season.
I haven't posted on cc or TAY in a long time. I like your no bullshit and egos site. I'll just head over and see what happens.

Dan is an enigma and his presence here is surely much too infrequent to rely on him for your beta, but I'd love for him to prove me wrong.
The traverse across the White Rive Glacier (or is it White Salmon? Long time since Hood for me) is fairly easy but by now you'd surely have to do some choss-kickin'.

I may bag the Hood plan in favor of Cold Fusion on Timp after reading Drew's TR! Plus it's 30 minutes closer from here.

So what did you do in the end?

Re: Newton-Clark on Hood.
Went to Portland with my wife to visit her sick dad and drove the long way past Hood... Hard to do since it looked titties. Issues of selfishness surfaced. As did hidden agendas.
I did manage to ski Castle Peak here in Idaho before our snow turned to shite and vaporized.
Collected a shit-load of Morels on the drive up there.
Now I think that it's time to point the van towards some granite... You should hit up the City this year. Nice in the Fall.

Re: Newton-Clark on Hood.
I've always heard good things about City of Rocks but it's really really far for me and there are so many other wonderful places so much closer. Davide/Diamond Dachshund was talking about making a trip there. He's in Park City for the summer.
