The lighting is so dramatic, pose for a picture!

Re: monkeys, penguins, bunny.
well, you know how the France has this one resort called Chamonix and that's pretty much it for skiing in that country? The Austria has St. Anton.
(was this a serious question?)
nice little run that local retired people do at the end of the day with no gear except racecarvers:

There's skiing in Austria!?
Thanks for more nice pictures, KLAR. It's snowing here again and maybe for several days this time, so I'll try to post some skiing pictures myself if I can escape the lab one of these days.

Re: monkeys, penguins, bunny.
Yes serious question. We'll be headed that direction in April and still trying to determine exactly where we want to go. I've been to Cham and would indeed like to go back but would be cool to check out some other spots. And my german is much better than my french.

Re: monkeys, penguins, bunny.
In April you want the higher parts of Austria, which are most concentrated in the western parts of the country. Various options for hut to hut traverse-like deals in e.g. the Silvretta (bordering on CH) or the Ötztal and Stubai Alps (bordering on IT). I can give you some more specific pointers if you are interested and provide some info on what you want to do (winterrooms, open huts, no huts ?)
we did some short late season hut excursions last year where we didn't really accomplish much other than eat a lot, but there are some pictures of stuff if you're interested. easy to put together longer trips if one wanted to.
this was in june near Kaunertal

and may in stubai
http://klartellsstories.blogspot.co.at/ ... eyond.html
there are good topographic maps of everything on bergfex. pick a ski area and click on the show map button on the right, it starts with the section of the map near the resort but you can navigate around nicely.
eg for kaunertal resort

Going for a hike with my girls.

Going to Argentina.
Going back to work.
Winter slowly came around
Different kind of work.
Not work.
Backyard is getting overcrowded.
Good thing we have several.
Hoping winter isn't as over as it currently appears to be around here...
