Mt Hector from Vulture Glacier on the Wapta Traverse.
After a wonderful vacation in New Mexico and Utah during December, Vancouver sensory deprivation started wearing on me quickly in January.
I convinced Jason that a quick trip to the Canadian Rockies would fit the bill. We spent the long drive brainstorming over my collection of maps and guidebooks. Mt Hector seemed like a worthy objective. At the Mosquito Creek Hostel, in response to our idea, several locals said something to the effect of, "Do what in January?"
Skinning up the Hector Glacier.
The area in the background looks way off the charts for future fun.
Kyle snowboards from a subsummit of Hector.
The new puffy was worth every penny.
Kyle on some Rockies pow with the Icefields Parkway in the background.
Slide for light.
Jason took a photo of me and nailed a convergence of natural phenomena.
Switch to the road. Love that access!
Some scenery on a tour above Lake Louise the next day.
We made a quick tour at Rogers Pass to break the monotony of the long drive on the way home.
Love those Canadian Rockies!
