Early Season Powder

Post by Alex »

This El Nino year is not as good as the last El Nino year.

Throw back to Remembrance Day 2009. Sky mixes some of the deep coastal concrete:

This El Nino has so far been no where near that of 2009. Whistler is likely to finish with < 200 cm recorded snowfall, so it's rather pailing to the >500cm snow fall of '09. The rest of this winter will be interesting.

But we did have some good pow meadow skipping turns. Tenquille Lake on Nov 8/9:

Since then it's been pretty dry with a solid inversion setting up for the foreseeable future.

Maybe we'll go ski some bony couloir soon. Hurray?

It's the best early season I've seen down here. Ski Santa Fe has had about five feet of snow and it looks like more good precip is on the way in the next few days. Did a nice backcountry tour with Dave Coleman from Seattle last Sunday with lots of good powder turns. Feel free to come for a visit!
