A Year and a Half

Once Maddy was mobile enough we found a giant puddle of melted snow near some big isolated mountains
Image

First day of 13/14 the wind picked all the snow out of the alpine and transported it to the valleys
Image

Early Season powder - it stopped snowing for 3 months after this picture
Image

It just didn't snow...
Image

Luckily it was cold so it gave the wind a chance to continuously re-deposit the snow
Image

We skied Pattison when it was a skating rink - very exciting
Image

Then it actually snowed for a day... but it was just a tease
Image

I was growing my hair out to try to raise money - whoever donated the most got to choose how it got styled. Here it was actually getting long... ish on Deception
Image

Then it actually started to snow and our snow pack quadrupled in a month.
Image

And then we went and skied the Spearhead in a day from the valley because our legs were getting soft
Image

Then we decided to go do the Misty Icefield since it snowed 3m on 1m of facets and depth hoar. First day it lived up to it's name:

We spent 2 days in our UL tight under Pukulkul - it was cozy

The next day we were going to go up and over Pitt, but in order to do that you must gain Roller Coaster Ridge. On the steepest slabby part of the ridge half way up the rock slab, the whole lower half of the face had slid to rock and there was a 3m+ crown line. In between the white out we got enough glimpses to convince us to take the low road.
Image

At one point it got steep and moderately scary - I actually tossed a rope down to Maddy for this one
Image

It was warm and wet at the Gatekeeper so we went to sleep and decided to try the next morning
Image

Excellent views of Pitt

Cold and wintery conditions up high led to isothermal flat light bull shit lower down. Stormy weather appeared to be approaching from the East. I am not a meteorologist.

Moving on...

Now you're all caught up with the goings on in my life over the past 18-ish months.

East Face of Decker looks good. Always wanted to ski that.

Lots of nice alpine scenery. Hooray for the Coast Mountains!
