Mt Maude West Face

Post by esvege »

With sun forecasted for Saturday and a desire to check out some new terrain Scott Rinckbacker and myself decided to head towards Mt Maude. We left the truck on snow mobile just before 5am. Getting out of the woods and our first look at the west face of Maude was inspiring as there was more coverage than we had seen in previous photos. We looked at a few lines if our plan of skiing the north face did not go through. We were glad we did.

With fear of instability on the upper slope of the north face and the consequences that could follow we opted to ski the one of the lines on the west face.

The descent was great with a mix of ice/corn/powder keeping us on our toes...
Our ski down Leroy Creek was eventful to say the least and we were back at the truck by 6pm.

Cool line, Erik. Jason was excited about your descent.

Hope you don't mind if I edit your post to make it display correctly. It looked like you meant to have a fourth photo there, but I didn't see one?

Thanks Sky, not sure what happened that was the 3rd attempt and each time it was uploading pics to bottom of report. Really...not that bad on computers. Was a fun line, thanks. You ever ski the NE face of Buck, thinking it for this Saturday?
