We have had a lovely holiday here in SWBC. Naomi and I have spent lots of time playing pirates and cooking: eggplant parmesan casserole, lentil soup and falafel have been my favorites. Our progress on "living large" was interrupted by a few favorable forecasts. For New Year's Eve we assembled a motley crue of WaWa veterans: E$, Ryan and DaveBROWN plus Naomi and the visiturd. On the eastern edge of the Blackcomb Glacier it quickly became clear that we were the only ones stupid enough to be heading past Spearhead for the day.

We weren't finding any red flags along the way and before we knew it we were breaking trail past Pattison.


Then Coast Mountain "sunny" became real sunshine!

Climbing higher than any of the heli skiers made it with a nice view of Wedge.


I love the scenery out here.

DaveBROWN finds the direct entrance on Pattison. I was elated to be able to share the joys of cross-country freeride with him.


It was all done in the dark, but Decker and Husume both skied very well. The little straightline entrance off Spearhead to get to the Husume traverse was extra fun in the dark.

Oh yeah, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Whistler Village is OFF THE HOOK on New Year's Eve.

Such a good trip! Thanks Sky and Naomi for the repeat.
And yeah, Whistler was hopping. But pow mixed with ice and rock induced sparks topped anything I saw down in the valley. Except for Tanya, maybe.

Shit, had to work. Too bad I missed the ski tour and Tanya.

Thanks for the intro to XC freeride gentlemen and Naomi! It was great to experience the coast mountains with a group of rock stars.
