Pfitschtal, 14.3.10

Post by klar »

went to check out a new valley and were pleasantly surprised since winter has been pretty crap around here. The Pfitschtal is in Süd Tirol or Alto Adige, so technically part of Italy but not really. There are several towns in the Pfitschtal, some of them with amazingly creative names like "Stone" or "Wood". Nice terrain all around although access is sometimes kind of annoying by Alps standards.

driving up through the views. so, what is that there? uh, might be hochsag. or then maybe not? i can't tell, i think the map is broken.

do forest workers just decide sometime midwinter that hiking trails can really be improved be sliding logs down them?
Image

well, it only took us three hours to get through the 600m of woods!

Welcome aboard, Klar!

Nice TR, as usual....

Yes, practice is good just in case you wind up with a 12km ski out on one ski!

So, how far did you have to go to find your ski? Going to adjust the bindings?

Thanks for the excellent Austrian ambiance!

So you never found your ski? Aesthetic couloir.

Alps need snow.

oh, i found the ski. skied a good third of the line as seen in the closeup picture on one ski, the other one was waiting in the run out. at least the remaining one was not attached to a tele binding this time. yes, going to adjust/lock the bindings. yes, alps need snow. actually, alps around here need a new snowpack.

is linking to blogs frowned upon here? same pictures but with some extra from yesterday at the end. yesterday was dedicated to crashing :)
