North Face of Cheakamus Mountain

Post by skykilo » Sat Jan 01, 2011 10:04 am

Happy New Year! It's a cold one here in SWBC.

Click it and you can see our tracks.

It was a cold morning.
Image

I took us a stupid way to the Benvolio Glacier but it was all right.
Image

Nice to see Ryan enjoying some powder again.
Image

Monika knows how to turn.
Image

This was not the original plan, but plans changed and in the end, Cheakamus we must.

Somehow Alex and I found ourselves alone on the very exposed summit ridge of Cheakamus Mountain.
Image

I sent Alex the wrong way because I was convinced it had to be "over there."
Image

Then I took a look and thought, "Holy shit that's it!"
Image

Alex joins me at my safe spot below the steep flutings.
Image

The powder was once again steep and deep.
Image

No really.
Image

Oooooooooooooohhhh isn't that pretty?
Image

Maddy and Alex are dots on their way to Fissile. It is possible to see our tracks from the previous day descending from Fissile-Whirlwind Col. Ryan and Monika and I were tired of being cold.

WOW that was a December to Remember!

Insert "goddamn that looks nice" affirmative comment here.

Good work, wish I had time to get up there and shred with you guys during my USA vacay.

Sometimes good things come from following subtle motivations.....

Please excuse the video quality. It was butt-ass cold and the zoom on my camera was acting up . Plus i couldn't feel my hands. Or my feet. Or my face.
