Joffre Peak, Aussie Couloir

Sunday was an unknown quantity. I called Alex from Whistler to get infos. Partly sunny at Mt Baker Ski Area? Thoughts of Shuksan percolated through our grey matter but we were in Whistler, it was late and we were tired.

Valley clouds in Whistler? Hmmm... duh duh dur Duffey? I was feeling remiss for not having skied the Aussie Couloir yet, so we took our crunkness to Pemberton, where one of the best DJs in the world was playing at one of the poshest hotels in southwest BC.

I had a discomforting bout with prophecy; second sight comes with onerous responsibility. But I had to go with the flow.

Today's word is instanchable.

E$ gets a look at the Aussie Couloir.

What kind of grin is that?

Let the light show begin!

T-shirt and no gloves! Looks like I was saying something. It doesn't seem appropriate to write it here.

Instanchable.

There were clouds floating on the Matier Glacier and the couloir had a surreal glow.

The wind-whipped snow looks like some desert sandstone formation. I like it.

I wanted to ski the couloir fluidly.

With turns that flow.

In the (nearly) winter solstice's warm glow.

The weird light on the glacier almost makes it look like we're skiing into the ocean.

An incredible berfday trip!

I was flowing like sands through an hourglass--no faster than time. Sky's vocal dystentery, however, threatened some kinda sonicaqueous boom--we veritably floated up the couloir on the strength of his boiling, raging flow.

That trip both reinvigorated and beat me down--perfect for a birthday. Thanks buddy.

This isn't really doin' it for me. Maybe because I've been at a ski shop for the last four lifetimes adjusting other people's ski equipment.
