Squamish, Centrefold and Milk Run

Post by skykilo »

Pete and I went a-clambering around Squamish for two days.

We started with the Fluffy Kitten Wall. Pete on pitch one.

There was a bit of an alpine vibe up there. Pete approaches the Scratching Post at the top of the second pitch.

As the climbing got a little stiffer, the Fluffy Kitten Wall became the Wet Pussy Wall. Pete follows a pitch that made me cough up a hairball or two.

Pete wanted to get his head wet, too.

Then we bailed. Nice rope bridge.

Then we had some beers and found a warmer, sunnier place. We saw Naomi and Rebekah in the Apron parking lot. Naomi led Snake, her first big multipitch lead without losing any gear. Nice work, Naomi!

Then Pete and I hopped on Centrefold. There was some guy at the bottom sandbagging it something wicked, talking about how they just got tossed, it's the toughest Yosemite-graded climb at Squamish, and how the camp hosts at the Chief Campground should do their friggin' jobs like the Yosemite rangers.

Despite concerns about our imminent doom, the climb was stellar. Pete starts up the second pitch.

Pete finishes the third pitch as the sun sets on the Howe Sound. Centrefold, indeed.

This morning we had lots of tentative plans, but reconsidered when the base of the Grand Wall was a zoo. So we headed to Milk Run. I hear Frimer cleaned this. Thanks dude, you rule. Pete starts the first pitch.

Pete gets facial.

The second pitch was a very fun traverse to the left after a bit of crack climbing.

Pete finds a rest on the first pitch of the superb dihedral.
Image

Oooh golly the second pitch of the dihedral keeps giving!
Image

Why don't you get a real job and stop all that rapping!?
Image

Thanks for all the fun, Pete. Let's go send some alpine shit!

That dihedral looks splendid. You'll have to point me in the right direction when I come up there.
